Sally Jo's Diversity Specials Now Have the Finest Aquacultured live rock
THIS FINE LIVE ROCK IS NOW IN SALLY JO'S MIDDLE 55 GALLON REEF NEXT TO THE PURPLE SPONGE ROCK.
THIS RED COMPOUND TUNICATE LOOKS LIKE THE RED SPONGES THAT GROW SO WELL IN OUR REEF AQUARIUMS
Garf.org now has the finest colored Florida Aquaculture rock we have ever received.
Not only is the rock beautiful our shipping methods are the best. When one considers how delicate the sponges are for shipping, it was great that not one of them was unhealthy upon arrival. This was a very exciting year at the GARF lab. We received our first shipment of colored aquacultured live rock 7 years ago. This rock has been down for 11 years and is completely alive with coralline and other animals. Many of the species we have never seen or worked with in our lab before.
We have unpacked several tons of Florida live rock during this research project, and this is by far the best quality. We have never seen as much color on any Aquacultured rock! The farmer has found a way to harvest, hold and ship his aquacultured rock that saves many of the rare invertebrates. These rocks are teaming with many species that have never made it to Idaho before.
If you want live rock that has bright colored healthy invertebrates and lots of them then this is the live rock you should buy!
HARDY AMERICAN CORALLINE ALGAE
These hardy CORALLINE ALGAE are very beautiful and interesting. The rock is cured so as not to stress the animals that are teaming on this rock. We have seen plenty of rock that stores labeled live rock and it is a shame compared to what we work with and what arrives from Florida. If you are interested in growing and caring for a mini reef system you can arrange a very beautiful landscape with this rock. At the Foundation we are very excited to get this rock..
This rock will live in marine aquariums with 2 - 40 watt lights. If you have wanted to try aquacultured live rocks then these Florida natives are the best ones.
The sponges, tunicates and other invertebrates on these rocks will grow successfully and spread onto your base rocks so you can grow tank raised live rock at home. The rock that garf sends has many species of very nice Macro Algae. We are using these algae in our new Glow In The Dark Mud Filters.
We will share more on mud filters in our up and coming newsletters. I found a least 6 types of marco algae that I did not have. I was very happy to find some rare brown turf algae.
After one week in our reef aquariums these plants have started to grow. I have found several new types that I did not see at first. I have been seen so much Fiji rock in stores during the last two semesters that I did not remember how many pleasurable hours could be spent sitting in front of a reef aquarium looking at a rock.
LIVE CORALS THAT YOU CAN GROW IN YOUR HOME AQUARIUM !
THESE AQUACULTURED ROCKS ADD SO MUCH INTEREST TO A MARINE AQUARIUM. THEY ARE SO EASY TO CARE FOR BECAUSE THEY DO NOT COME THE TROPICS.
The animals that thrive in Tampa Florida are used to changes! In the Summer it is hot and the Water gets cold in the winter. Invertebrates that come from places like Fiji can not take the changes that many home aquariums make. If you want an aquarium that will forgive a mistake or two then you need to use this fine aquacultured live rock.
I am certain that you can grow many of species that we are finding on this aquaculture rock in your systems. If you have plans for a horse tank grow-out , this type of rock will give you many valuable species that will colonize your tank raised live rock.
YELLOW SPONGES AND GREEN PLANTS ON PURPLE CORALLINE ALGAE MAKE A FINE LOOKING COMBINATION
You will receive several of these rocks in each Sally Jo's Diversity specials. Each rock is treated the very best way to insure that the animals are healthy when they get to your home.
THIS AQUACULTURED LIVE ROCK IS CARED FOR FROM THE SEA TO THE AIRPORT BY SOME OFTHE BEST MARINE AQUARISTS IN THE INDUSTRY
You can be sure that this rock is properly handled every step of the way. Many of the rocks have living barnacles. This type of barnacle has lived in our reef aquariums very well. Most of the rock we have received from Florida in the past did not have very many healthy barnacles. We can always be certain that many rare small invertebrates and the larval forms of many others have survived collection and shipment if the sponges and barnacles are doing well.
MANY TYPES OF TUBE WORMS
One of the best surprises that we had this week is the many types of tube worms that we have found on this aquacultured live rock. Tube worms are one of the most valuable invertebrates you can grow in your land based aquaculture systems. We have watched many people pick out tank raised live rock because the bottom of it was covered with small tube worms. I am certain that land based combo rocks, such as the ones with green stars and gold crown soft corals, will be able to compete with wild collected rocks now that the cost of shipping will keep many of the large corals and rocks in the ocean. In the near future the tank raised live rocks that have tube worms and colored sponges will be the best sellers. The very best time of the year to purchase these species is right now.
Fast Growing Colored Invertebrates
We have been following the progress of these Aquacultured live rocks since 1994. We have always said that they would not be sold by garf until they were covered with life, and now they are. This is the perfect time of year to purchase these live rocks because the weather is cool and they ship very well. One of the things that interests me in collecting aquacultured live rock is the fact that it is just a few years old. All of the mature animals that are living on this rock grow very fast. I have always said that the best things to have on tank raised live rock are fast growing colored invertebrates.
This live rock is in each of our Sally Jo's Diversity pacs. I am certain that you will be happy with the live rock you receive and in the future you will be happy you did it now.
This the perfect rock to use with your own home made AragocreteTM live base rock. You can use one pound of base rock and one pound of Aquacultured rock for each gallon. We use CaribSea Aragonite and Garf Grunge to start the system. We add the base rock and Janitors and then 1 week later we add the aquaculture rock.
We use 2 - 40 watt lights one actinic and 1 daylight per each 55 gallons until the coralline is growing on most of the base rock before we increase the number of bulbs. We have found that by using 4 powerheads we can grow wonderful reefs everytime. We have helped 1000's of people set up these Bullet- proof reefs during the last 16 years. Many of these people have added more equipment as the tanks matured.
When you purchase aquaculture products from garf.org are supporting our research. This research will help our hobby because we have always shared all of the information with all of you.
This new exciting aquaculture product gives you a chance to help save part of the wild reef and have one of the most colorful aquariums possible.
The time has come for us to quit talking about saving the reef and start doing something. It is not often that saving part of the wild reef can be so fun and educational!
These are the live rocks that come with the divesity specials!
