GARF'S AIRLIFT MAKING LESSON = bubbles and sun
LEROY@GARF.ORG

This is how the airlift is made. We glue the large pipe together, but the small pipe is NOT glued. The small pipe will be cut longer than the larger pipe. The small pipe will be connected to the air line with a valve. This ball valve will adjust the air flow to maximize the water flow.

3aFine substrates such as sand or mud may clog the filter. We use Carbisea Seaflor special grade. Undergravel filters are not effective if the substrate bed is uneven. In an uneven gravel bed, water will flow only through the thin portions of the bed, leaving the more heavily covered areas to become anoxic. Because of this, animals that dig, such as wrasses, are best kept in an aquarium using some other type of filtration.
