These two large pictures show one of my favorite gorgonians that is growing in a 120 gal. reef aquarium. This gorgonians has been in our collection since 1996, and it is one of the fastest-growing gorgonians that we have. Gorgonians can be grown next to almost any other coral because they do not often sting or damage other corals. They also make good neighbors because they are not affected by many of the corals that we grow in a captivity. This combination of Zoanthids, Parazoanthids, and SPS corals is a very beautiful easy to grow combination. Zoanthids and Parazoanthids both grow very well when they are combined. The Parazoanthids stand above the Zoanthids on a tall stalk, and they are able to capture small pieces of food. The Zoanthids are not shaded by the translucent Parazoanthids so they are able to synthesize their food by utilizing photosynthetic Zooxanthellae. The first picture shows this combination after it has been growing for approximately two months. Noticed a small second branch of the Gorgonian starting to grow at the base of the larger of branch.
