XENIA KEEPING IS LESS DIFFICULT NOW THAT THE XENIA CORAL HAS BEEN GROWN IN CAPTIVE REEFS
THIS IS THE SIXTH GENERATION FIJI XENIA THAT WE HAVE BEEN GROWING IN SALLY JO'S OLDEST 55 GALLON REEF AQUARIUMS.
Xenia keeping has had the reputation of demanding considerable effort or skill on the part of the reef keeper. These pictures below show how fast a captive raised Xenia can grow. This coral grew from 5 polyps to 15 polyps in 10 days using no skimmer, filter, or halide lighting. We keep these Xenia in a 55 gallon reef aquarium with live sand, 3 powerheads, and 4 - four foot VHO lightS and an IceCap ballast. Learn how to do this 55 gallon project
