The next pictures show how the Soft Corals are growing into colonies that we will use for cuttings. Many of these corals came from our supporters as trades. We will be growing the Sarcophytons so we can donate cuttings to cancer research programs.
We are using this reef for growing out brood stock so we increased the lighting. The coralline algae is just starting to recover from the increase in light. Soon the rocks will begin to show the purple color of growing coralline algae again. We have really been crowding this reef with corals that have come in from our trades.
This is a picture showing the reef on the third day after we set it up. It is fun building a reef that has very low impact on the natural reef. All of the corals and live rock in this tank were grown in captivity. We want to thank everyone who sent us corals. We hope that when you get extra corals we can trade again!
THESE PICTURES SHOW DETAILS OF HOW THIS REEF IS BEING PLANTED.
FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS WE HAVE WORKED VERY HARD TO PURCHASE, TRADE, AND SAVE AS MANY TYPES OF CORALS AS WE CAN.
