|If you refer back to the first couple of pictures in this slide show you will notice how small this fast growing animal ,has grown. This was the time I began to think about propagation. Having lost the original mother colony because I propagated it too many times and being left with only a couple of polyps to work with I was a little more than nervous.
I went into my office, closed the door, pulled out a brand new pair of scissors, looked this XENIA straight in the eye, and said its now or never. I closed my eyes made one sweep across her stock and got ready for the surgery that was to follow.
I did not tell one single person in the office that I was in operation mode for I knew how devastated everyone would be if I lost this animal I had loved into being. I had my plugs all lined up and the bowl of water from the mother tank. My thin holed bridal veil netting was pre-cut and I began to cut the animal into many pieces. Meanwhile, I was keeping my eye on the mother colony just praying she would not shrink and loose hope.
She actually seemed to except the hair cut with out any problem, and she never did recoil or show any negative response to this beauty shop visit. I still wasn't ready to share this event with the rest of the staff. I wanted to make certain that surgery was successful. One needs more than a couple of hours to make certain their surgery and recovery went better than planned. Plus I know Leonel well enough that if I told him day l he would have them all sold day twoJ

Sometimes I forget how fun it can be to watch the Reef Janitorstm as they go about their duties. It is important to have the mixture of crabs and snails custom picked for your reef aquarium. Both Leonel and Brian are experts in algae control. You can be sure that they will choose the right mixture from GARF's extensive collection of algae eaters.
The GARF staff knows that each aquarium is different and they will ask about the size, lighting, and age of your reef. Summer is the most important time to add extra janitorstm because there is more light and the reef will be a bit warmer. When you order any Reef Janitor pactm you can pick a free coral or two pounds of GARF's FAMOUS GRUNGE LIVE SAND ACTIVATOR Reef Janitors tm or call toll free 800-600-6163.
