GEOTHERMAL AQUACULTURE RESEARCH FOUNDATION
This picture is of the Mike Paletta Blue, look at the polyp extension. This is one of my very favorite animals in our collection. Mike came to Boise Idaho and visited GARF on two separate trips. He very kindly entrusted me with several sps corals in 1997. The first ones came to me six years ago and I still have each and every single one of them.

This animal however is amazing not only because of its color but also because of its polyp extension. Mike sent me a second batch about seven months ago and I am delighted to announce that all of them are happy and growing in my thriving third tank.

Mike is coming out with another best seller reef book. As soon as it is ready and on the market we will help him get the word out. Mike has dedicated years of his life not only to writing books and being an active hobbyist but he has been traveling around the World sharing knowledge. He has put so much time and effort into this new book project that I can not wait to get my hands on one. We are so happy Mike has shared his rare colored sps corals with us.

Individual hobbyist will always buy color and polyp extension. When you purchase great coral strains you always feel the rewards from a happy animal. We can tell when an animal is not happy if it begins to lose color or if the normal polyp extension is not present.

There is no tank at GARF that at any time that is not full of our janitors. We even have to do some extra feeding because they keep the tank so clean. I also keep the calcium levels above 500 so that the snails have the high levels needed for their shells to continue to grow.

I can say this with one hundred percent certainty; our janitors are workhorses. They do not harm anything in any tank not even the most delicate fish or coral. The hermit crabs we use do not eat coralline algae. They are small and the mixture we provide gives you the chance to take care of many types of algae problems. We mix the hermits with many types of snails andwhat one won't eat the others will.
