|In this picture you see the tank when it has reached the two week stage. You will notice the GARF reef janitors fast as work. We like to place a heavy load of snails in the newly set up reef because this is really the diatom stage, and they do such a great job cleaning the rock and glass.
You will notice that Leonel was fast at work collecting corals to place in this tank and each day you walked by the tank you could see something new that he had glued on his already changing reefscape. It is amazing how much fun one can have with their reef even at the young age of two weeks old.
We know what many of the books say, we know what many of the pet stores will tell you, but more than anything else we know what works. I began to add the Sea Chem supplements directly to this tank on week two. You will find this recipe described in detail on the article I wrote about the bulletproof reef system in previous newsletters. BULLET PROOF REEF CARE SCHEDULE
If you really look closely you can see where the coralline algae is starting to seed and grow on the Aragocrete rock. Leonel never became concerned when the rock started to turn a greenish tint because he new that the pink coralline algae was the next color to come from the GARF GRUNGE. The trust he placed in the Garf products let him enjoy the different stages of this reef.
If you believe in something then you will have success. This tank has never been a disappointment, and many of the people who walk into our doors are simply amazed by its beauty. To tell you the truth, it almost makes me want to tear down my tanks and start over just for the fun of the feelings one receives each day when looking at the animals you loved into being.
Leonel started this tank with two blue lights, and he left them on for 24 hours a day. This is our way of forcing the coralline to seed its way onto the rock faster. Coralline loves low blue light, and we have found this to be the best way to get our Aragocrete rock to come to life. Leonel also had one white light placed on the timer to come on for 8 hours and off the remainder of the day.
Leaving the blue lights on for the 24-hour period does not harm the soft corals you see featured in his two-week-old reef. All of you who may still be sitting on the fence scared to death to take on the project give Leonel a call. He will spend the time on the phone sharing each and every step needed for you to achieve success. You can reach him best after 4 PM Mountain Time at 208-344-6163
FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS WE HAVE WORKED VERY HARD TO PURCHASE, TRADE, AND SAVE AS MANY TYPES OF CORALS AS WE CAN.
We will continue to provide the most current data on reef farming for both education and profit.
Sometimes I forget how fun it can be to watch the Reef Janitorstm as they go about their duties. It is important to have the mixture of crabs and snails custom picked for your reef aquarium. Both Leonel and Norm are experts in algae control. You can be sure that they will choose the right mixture from GARF's extensive collection of algae eaters.
The GARF staff knows that each aquarium is different and they will ask about the size, lighting, and age of your reef. Summer is the most important time to add extra janitorstm because there is more light and the reef will be a bit warmer. When you order any Reef Janitor pactm you can pick a free coral or two pounds of GARF's FAMOUS GRUNGE LIVE SAND ACTIVATOR Reef Janitors tm or call toll free 800-600-6163.

|Many of the rare corals are offered to our members for 2 years before they are put on sale. We will soon have an E-mail list that will list the rarest color forms of sps corals and soft corals such as Xenia and Mushrooms.|
