GARF'S CORAL ORDER FORM |  GARF'S HOME |  REEF JANITORS ALGAE CONTROL CENTRAL

GEOTHERMAL AQUACULTURE RESEARCH FOUNDATION
This is Leonel's tank at the one-month stage. You can see that he is getting brave enough to place some of the captive propagated large polyp stony corals in this tank. You can see some of the Favia and Hammer corals thriving in this tank. Many of the Xenia were placed in this tank now it is stabilized and temperature is steady at 78 degrees.

Leonel has now transferred his lights to all be on for a 12 hour photo period. There are many leather corals and reef janitors hard at work. This is the time in ones reef setup when you get to play more with coral placement and collection because the janitors truly do all the clean up for you.

When Leonel set this tank upI promised to move my baby clownfish to this tank once they had out grown their grow out tanks, and that's why in this image you see no fish in this tank. Usually at the two week stage we feel it is safe to put some of the hardier fish in the tank to help cycle the tank and to create an over all balance of a captive reef system.

I have had three successful batches of baby clownfish, and we have in our collection 5 mating pairs. Only two pairs have laid eggs. It is my goal to someday be able to give away Idaho clownfish with each Reef Janitor order.

I am proud to say that my baby clownfish have now been placed in five separate reef tanks at GARF, and as you will see in some of the following pictures I kept my promise to Leonel. His tank now houses four of my baby clowfish from my second hatching.

You can see in this picture how the Aragocrete rock have places formed in them to hold many of the GARF reef plugs. That way you can hide the plug and show off the coral, but we still glue the plug in place because many of the snails will move them. It seems they think that they are better at designing the reef than you are.

At this time Leonel left for a vacation to Mexico with his family over the Christmas holidays. We dutifully took care of his tank and he was amazed with the growth of many of the animals when he returned.

FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS WE HAVE WORKED VERY HARD TO PURCHASE, TRADE, AND SAVE AS MANY TYPES OF CORALS AS WE CAN.

Sometimes I forget how fun it can be to watch the Reef Janitorstm as they go about their duties. It is important to have the mixture of crabs and snails custom picked for your reef aquarium. Both Leonel and Norm are experts in algae control. You can be sure that they will choose the right mixture from GARF's extensive collection of algae eaters.

The GARF staff knows that each aquarium is different and they will ask about the size, lighting, and age of your reef. Summer is the most important time to add extra janitorstm because there is more light and the reef will be a bit warmer. When you order any Reef Janitor pactm you can pick a free coral or two pounds of GARF's FAMOUS GRUNGE LIVE SAND ACTIVATOR Reef Janitors tm or call toll free 800-600-6163.
