|This wonderful pink and purple Zoanthid illustrates one of the most important Concepts that we have developed for the bulletproof reef. You will be able to grow outstanding colonies of corals from just a few healthy polyps. This Zoanthid was originally a teeny fragment containing only three polyps.
After Leonel glued this small fragment in his reef tank it grew into this beautiful colony in only a few months. We have learned over the years that it is more important to get a small healthy start of a new beautiful coral rather than a large dead coral. Many times people have tried to be very generous when they were sending us corals for trades, and because they had put too large of a coral into a small amount of water the corals arrived dead.
During 1996 and 1997 we purchased many captive raised SPS corals from Southern California. When I opened the first few shipments of thirty fragments I was not too happy because of fragments were so small, but almost all of those fragments have grown into wonderful colonies that are now in several tanks here at GARF.
In 1995 we received a shipment of small fragments from Atlanta Georgia, and almost all of these original corals have been distributed to hundreds of people now. The lesson that we have learned is that it is better to receive a live small coral than a dead large coral. This may seem obvious but so many people purchase wild collected corals only to lose them later.
FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS WE HAVE WORKED VERY HARD TO PURCHASE, TRADE, AND SAVE AS MANY TYPES OF CORALS AS WE CAN.
We will continue to provide the most current data on reef farming for both education and profit.
Sometimes I forget how fun it can be to watch the Reef Janitorstm as they go about their duties. It is important to have the mixture of crabs and snails custom picked for your reef aquarium. Both Leonel and Norm are experts in algae control. You can be sure that they will choose the right mixture from GARF's extensive collection of algae eaters.
The GARF staff knows that each aquarium is different and they will ask about the size, lighting, and age of your reef. Summer is the most important time to add extra janitorstm because there is more light and the reef will be a bit warmer. When you order any Reef Janitor pactm you can pick a free coral or two pounds of GARF's FAMOUS GRUNGE LIVE SAND ACTIVATOR Reef Janitors tm or call toll free 800-600-6163.

|Many of the rare corals are offered to our members for 2 years before they are put on sale. We will soon have an E-mail list that will list the rarest color forms of sps corals and soft corals such as Xenia and Mushrooms.|
