| We made up this image to help review what we have talked about in this slide show. This coral propagation method will help you grow large quantities of any type of SPS coral, but this method works especially well with plate forming Montipora.
In the lower right of this picture you can see a bowl of Reef Plugstm ready to be mounted in groups of five. Each of the reef trees that Curtis is harvesting will provide enough fragments to make at least ten other Reef Plugtm trees.
When your new Montipora has grown large enough to allow you to cut it in half you will be ready to start this type of project for yourself. After removing the fragment of Montipora it is placed in a bowl of warm reef water. This fragment is cut into several smaller fragments, so you can mount them on several different reef plugs or small reef safe rocks.
Plating Montipora can produce a lot of slime so they need to be glued with reef glue that is wet. When we are gluing Acropora and other corals we often let the glue harden in reef water for several seconds, but we have found that Montipora attach better if the glue is quite fresh.
When we are gluing small fragments we put a large drop of reef glue on a plug. We rub the freshly cut edge of the fragment in the wet glue until it pulls away a bit of the glue showing that it is ready to attach. We repeat this process until we have three frags on each reef plug.
The freshly mounted reef plugs are placed in a shallow empty bowl so that the attached corals face away from the one next to it. By reversing every other reef plug we are able to form a straight structure. Reef glue is applied between each reef plug, and the bowl is quickly filled with warm reef water. After several minutes the Reef tree can be turned over and the water can be poured off again. We glue the other side of the Reef tree and fill the bowl with water.
I hope you have enjoyed this reef slide show, because we are preparing several more showing other types of reef propagation that we are doing.
FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS WE HAVE WORKED VERY HARD TO PURCHASE, TRADE, AND SAVE AS MANY TYPES OF CORALS AS WE CAN.
We are having a special on all of the coral cuttings. WHEN YOU PURCHASE 5 AT THE REGULAR PRICE OF $100 WE WILL GIVE YOU TWO FREE CORALS!. We will continue to provide the most current data on reef farming for both education and profit.
Sometimes I forget how fun it can be to watch the Reef Janitorstm as they go about their duties. It is important to have the mixture of crabs and snails custom picked for your reef aquarium. Both Leonel and Brian are experts in algae control. You can be sure that they will choose the right mixture from GARF's extensive collection of algae eaters.
The GARF staff knows that each aquarium is different and they will ask about the size, lighting, and age of your reef. Summer is the most important time to add extra janitorstm because there is more light and the reef will be a bit warmer. When you order any Reef Janitor pactm you can pick a free coral or two pounds of GARF's FAMOUS GRUNGE LIVE SAND ACTIVATOR Reef Janitors tm or call toll free 800-600-6163.

|Many of the rare corals are offered to our members for 2 years before they are put on sale. We will soon have an E-mail list that will list the rarest color forms of sps corals and soft corals such as Xenia and Mushrooms.|
