|This image shows our intern Curtis preparing two coral cutting trees made from reef plugs. We glue multiple reef plugs together into long thin structures that can be placed upright in underutilized parts of the reef aquarium. These Reef Plugtm trees are valuable structures for growing brood stock Montiporas, because they are very easy to break apart after the Montipora has grown larger .
The reef plugs that Curtis is preparing already have a variety of Montipora cuttings growing on them. He lays a group of five reef plugs back to back facing opposite directions so they form a straight structure. After he has placed the reef plugs in a shallow tray of water - the water covers the bottom halve of the plugs - he puts super glue between the plugs and then fills the tray with reef water.
After the glue has hardened, the group of plugs are turned over. After the water has been poured out the other side is glued. We then refill the tray with reef water and wait for the glued to harden; this could take up to half an hour. This picture shows our intern Curtis gluing a group of reef plugs together to form a coral plug tree. By gluing plugs that contain fragments of corals together we can form long thin structures that can be stood upright in our brood stock tanks.
I always tell my students that vertical real estate in the reef is almost free, because you can add many corals without casting a shadow or interrupting the water flow. After these Montiporas have grown we will be able to break this tree apart very easily because the reef glue remains very brittle.
We often add extra fragments between the plugs. We have added several bright green Montiporas to this group of plugs.
FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS WE HAVE WORKED VERY HARD TO PURCHASE, TRADE, AND SAVE AS MANY TYPES OF CORALS AS WE CAN.
We are having a special on all of the coral cuttings. WHEN YOU PURCHASE 5 AT THE REGULAR PRICE OF $100 WE WILL GIVE YOU TWO FREE CORALS!. We will continue to provide the most current data on reef farming for both education and profit.
Sometimes I forget how fun it can be to watch the Reef Janitorstm as they go about their duties. It is important to have the mixture of crabs and snails custom picked for your reef aquarium. Both Leonel and Brian are experts in algae control. You can be sure that they will choose the right mixture from GARF's extensive collection of algae eaters.
The GARF staff knows that each aquarium is different and they will ask about the size, lighting, and age of your reef. Summer is the most important time to add extra janitorstm because there is more light and the reef will be a bit warmer. When you order any Reef Janitor pactm you can pick a free coral or two pounds of GARF's FAMOUS GRUNGE LIVE SAND ACTIVATOR Reef Janitors tm or call toll free 800-600-6163.

|Many of the rare corals are offered to our members for 2 years before they are put on sale. We will soon have an E-mail list that will list the rarest color forms of sps corals and soft corals such as Xenia and Mushrooms.|
