We use several bowls of reef water to hold the colony and the cuttings. You can turn the coral slowly as you cut around the polyps. This works very well with large polyp corals such as Australian Acanthastrea. This saw causes so little damage that the cut polyps heal in about two days. It is interesting to watch how the coral tissue grows down onto the cut skeleton.
