THESE FOUR EDDIE POSTMA ORIGINAL ARAGOCRETE SCULPTURES This group of four Eddie Postma original aragocrete sculptures are ready to be sent to a valued customer who is using them to build a stable foundation for their new reef aquarium. ![]() In human architecture there are several universal shapes that are used everywhere. One of these shapes is the arch. There are arches everywhere: McDonald's restaurants, cathedrals, aqueducts. The arch is a very appealing shape. In a reef aquarium, an arch will provide a focal point, a place where the viewer's eye is drawn. Of course, there is another reason why arches are used so often in human structures. An arch is a very stable shape. All too often, I hear stories of people who piled live rock in their tank and later experienced coral-destroying landslides. If the rock in your tank is not stable, there will come a time when it gets bumped by a wayward fish, jolted by the current from a powerhead. When this time comes, instable rock structures may fall and crush animals in your reef. To prevent problems like this, design your tank carefully and use rock that will be stable. ![]() Nature also uses the arch shape. From the dramatic rock formations of Arches Park in Utah, to the pure curve of a rainbow, arches are everywhere. So, from both the design and stability standpoints, an arch is a great shape to incorporate into your tank!
