|This image shows several different SPS corals and four beautiful soft corals including a large red Brain Coral that started out as a one inch baby . In the upper right corner there is a beautiful small bodied purple Acropora that is in the group with Acropora nana. This group of Acropora grows multiple branches and like all Acropora the growing tip is called an axial corallite. On the side of these branches there are many incipient axial corallites that will form new branches if they are needed.
By manipulating placement of fragments we are able to take advantage of a growth strategy that causes branches that are not pointed up right to develop many axial corallites from the radial polyps and incipient axial corallites.
The soft coral in the middle of this picture is a beautiful large polyp Sinularia. The branches of the Sinularia are removed with scissors when they grow too large. The small cut branches are used to start new colonies of this Sinularia.

Sometimes I forget how fun it can be to watch the Reef Janitorstm as they go about their duties. It is important to have the mixture of crabs and snails custom picked for your reef aquarium. Both Leonel and Brian are experts in algae control. You can be sure that they will choose the right mixture from GARF's extensive collection of algae eaters.
The GARF staff knows that each aquarium is different and they will ask about the size, lighting, and age of your reef. Summer is the most important time to add extra janitorstm because there is more light and the reef will be a bit warmer. When you order any Reef Janitor pactm you can pick a free coral or two pounds of GARF's FAMOUS GRUNGE LIVE SAND ACTIVATOR Reef Janitors tm or call toll free 800-600-6163.
