This brilliantly colored Acropora came from the first farm in the Solomon Islands in 1999. This Acropora millapora has a unique pink color and bright cream-colored axial corallites. This Acropora has extremely long polyps, and one tentacle on each polyp is approximately three times longer than all the rest. This Acropora shows all the attributes that make a great ornamental coral. It is brilliantly colored, it forms many small branches, the polyps are open all day, and it has developed into a very hardy, fast growing ornamental captive coral. When ocean grown aquaculture corals are first imported they are no different in their adaptability to aquarium life than wild collected coral from the same area. Even though the fragment was propagated, the growing conditions are still very different than we can duplicate in our reef aquariums. When the small concrete disks are first placed in grow out systems here in United States there is approximately the same amount of loss as there is with wild coral colonies. Almost everyone we have talked to who imports the Solomon aquacultured corals expects to lose thirty percent of them. Even though the coral was aquacultured it still needs to adapt to captivity. Many times these corals do not grow much during the first year. But when the first tank raised branches are fragmented the resulting clones grow faster and are much hardier. We have noticed that the third generation clone copies exhibit the same rapid growth as other corals that are grown in captivity in tanks.

It is important to have the mixture of crabs and snails custom picked for your reef aquarium. Both Leonel and Brian are experts in algae control. You can be sure that they will choose the right mixture from GARF's extensive collection of algae eaters. The GARF staff knows that each aquarium is different and they will ask about the size, lighting, and age of your reef. Summer is the most important time to add extra janitorstm because there is more light and the reef will be a bit warmer. When you order any Reef Janitor pactm you can pick a free coral or two pounds of GARF's FAMOUS GRUNGE LIVE SAND ACTIVATOR Reef Janitors tm or call toll free 800-600-6163.
