Sally Jo Headlee took these pictures on February 14, 2002. These pictures show each of her three reefs. These reefs are built in 55-gallon aquariums, and they all have fluorescent lighting. The oldest reef is now six years old. The middle reef is five years old, and the youngest reef is 3 years old. Each of these reefs were set up using the shield fabric covered Plenum that is called an Eco-Sand Plenum. The Plenum was covered with four 5 in. of CaribSea Seaflor special grade gravel, and the system was inoculated using GARF Grunge. These three reefs were decorated with Aragocrete Sculptures.
Each of these reefs contains a unique collection of both soft and SPS corals. When Sally Jo's reefs are first set up she decorates them with soft corals. As a reef matures she adds more SPS corals. Each of these reefs contains several different fish, and many of these fish are five to six years old.
Almost every coral that you see in these pictures was started from a frag less than 1 in. long, and many of them are over five years old. These tanks have been maintained using a simple recipe of SeaChem products and Instant Ocean salt.
