THIS IS PAGE #4 OF THE GARF'S PHOTO LAB SERIES. WHAT DOES THE WHITE BALANCE HAVE TO DO WITH THE IMAGES? These pictures were taken with Sally Jo's Sony DSC-70 and the only difference was that on some of them she set the white balance to OUTDOOR and on others she set the white balance to INDOOR. I will write more about using WHITE BALANCE and how to set it if your camera offers this option. There are several things that determine the final color of the finished image. The image will have a completely different look if you turn on one half of the lights, and you can change the image by raising the hood part way. The most important thing is that you try to depict the corals as close to their natural color as possible. Garf has had hundreds of visitors and it has been extremely important that we show the true color of our corals. Dozens of Reef Hobby professionals visit our Foundation and most of them have told us that the coral images can not capture the beauty and the bright colors they see in Sally Jo's reefs.
