It''s nighttime now at the GARF home. We keep such a fast pace all day long that it takes me forever to slow down. The changing of the season here in Idaho is simply incredible. The colors of the leafs on the trees and on the ground makes us feel the coming of winter. I love the day unfolding early and the darkness we encounter at the end of the business day.
LeRoy and I try and share a little time each week to sort out what some of the important tasks we want to accomplish for the week are. Always at the top of the list is sharing a piece of GARF with you. Each and every single day we learn something new, we discover more, the impossible happens and we do feel compelled to share. I say this to you in hopes you understand that our hearts are in the right place.
We have so much to share, so many ideas, and so much vision, I think sometimes our staff, don't know which foot to take off on. So I just keep telling them you can not go wrong just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and keep moving, and I'll keep leading. We never have a boring day at GARF nor do we run out of work to do.
Each different Xenia has its own method or rhythm for constant movement. At one time I was trying to convince LeRoy that it was the Country music that had them in motion. These Xenias simply provide an amazing host for the Clownfish. They love to dance in the Xenia and hide within the stocks. We must remember that everything that we do has an effect on something else that we do. It is so hard to get this across to people.
As mere humans however, we forget how the rules we make on ourselves effect those we care and love for. My Clownfish are already confused with this one hour off the their regular time clock. All they really know is that I come in early and they don't have to beg as long for food. At the end of the packing day I usually sit and marvel at the beauty of these creatures that trust me with their care until the lights go off. However now because the timer was not changed we losted an hour admiring each other through our looking glass World. They don't understand that I need to change the timer to keep their Clownfish time clock matching our human needs. They beg me to figure out what it wrong with their perfect life in this little glass box.
One of the ideas we had to keep you coming to our site was to do some interactive games. This one might be fun with you and your child. Can you find the Clownfish in this very first picture?
Look closer! Ok, Look under the leather coral (toadstool) you can barely see the Tomato Clown poking his head out as if to be in a game of hide and peak.
In this Second picture the Clownfish is Mr. Clown you will notice he is smaller and it is his job to take care of the nest and protect the eggs. Having the tank full of different types of Xenia gives the Clownfish a sense of security. They tend to lay their egg clutch right below the stock of the Xenia. If the Xenia get too thick it makes it hard to find the nest so propagation is a must. We have tons of info. throughout our web site on Xenia propagation, also if you have any difficulty with that you can call our office staff at 208-344-6163. It is best to call our help line aftter 4 pm Mountain time.
Soon we will be providing a free sample of Sea Chemžs Reef Plus to go out with orders of Xenias, and I will bet my life you will notice a difference. The Xenias tend to soak up all the nutrients and begin to pulse as if to ask you for the next dance. The Clownfish seem to really enjoy the tickling strokes of the polyps rubbing against its belly.
I have been pleasantly surprised by now good of a host the Xenia makes for the Clownfish. I was so afraid that the Xenia would have a negative reaction to the constant interaction for the playful Clownfish. As I remarked in many of the previous articles, that I have shared with you on the subject of Xenia, they are also a great indicator when something is just not quite right in your tank. They usually show you the first sign.
Here are couple of other GREAT reasons to consider the Xenia as a host for your special new or older tank mates.
They grow so fast
