GEOTHERMAL AQUACULTURE RESEARCH FOUNDATION
This beautiful group of Zoanthids was propagated by Lionel on an Aragocrete sculpture that spell out the words GARF. The letter G on this sculpture is now completely covered with beautiful, multicolored Zoanthids. Each of these groups of Zoanthid started from just one polyp. This weekend I will be removing the majority of the Zoanthids so I can propagate this beautiful combination on dozens of reef plugs.

This sculpture has at least a dozen different, colorful, Zoanthid and Protopalythoa. This image just shows the top one-third of this 10 in. letter G. Sally Jo will photograph the entire sculpture several times so I can show you a before and after image of this sculpture. I will use a small sharp wood chisel to surgically removed individual polyps so that I do not damage the Aragocrete sculpture too much. It is extremely enjoyable to design beautifully colored colonies of this hardy coral.

Each of the individual polyps will be glued to a Reef Plugtm with GARF reef glue. This is made much easier because I remove a small chunk of the Aragocrete sculpture with each Polyp. The reef plugs will each contain three distinct, colorful, hardy Zoanthids. These reef plugs will be grown in a shallow tray that is approximately 6 in. deep.

The Geothermal Aquaculture Research Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization dependent on sales of quality products and our special Annual Events to support our eduacation programs. These projects sustain our service programs and ongoing research we provide to our Community and the World.

We are an Idaho Non Profit Organization dedicated to advancing the knowledge of reef keeping. Our live rock aquaculture research has produced many new techniques for sustaining marine life and propagating corals. We are currently growing many species of sps corals, mushrooms, etc. The Foundation is building a genetic bank in Idaho with collections from around the World. We specialize in reef janitors, and have shared this research with many people who need to control algae in land-based live rock aquaculture tanks.
