|This Zoanthid is one of my favorites and many people think it is the most beautiful Zoanthid in our collection. This Zoanthid was so popular that we sold almost all of them and we are now having to grow some more brood stock. About six years ago we traded corals with a friend named Dirk and this was one of the corals that he sent us. A large group of these are very beautiful because the multicolored oral disk looks like it almost glows in the dark.
In 1999 when Sally Jo and I were teaching coral farming at the Smithsonian Institution there was another coral farmer who helped. Someone in the audience ask us both where the best Zoanthid came from because we had been talking about Tonga and Fiji. At the same time the other gentleman and myself both said Minnesota, because that's where we both acquired this beautiful Zoanthid in a trade with Dirk.
The Geothermal Aquaculture Research Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization dependent on sales of quality products and our special Annual Events to support our eduacation programs. These projects sustain our service programs and ongoing research we provide to our Community and the World. We are an Idaho Non Profit Organization dedicated to advancing the knowledge of reef keeping. Our live rock aquaculture research has produced many new techniques for sustaining marine life and propagating corals. We are currently growing many species of sps corals, mushrooms, etc. The Foundation is building a genetic bank in Idaho with collections from around the World. We specialize in reef janitors, and have shared this research with many people who need to control algae in land-based live rock aquaculture tanks.
