THIS PICTURE SHOWS A PURPLE BONSAI CORAL AND TWO OF SALLY JO'S CLAMS.

We have noticed how fast this Acropora grows a large base before it grows branches.
At GARF we have been growing many of these incredible cuttings and we have noticed that
the base grows until it reaches the edge of the substrate it is growing on. The second picture shows
several polyps that have turned into branches as soon as the coral reached the edge of the substrate.

We are learning how to utilize the information on coral growth strategies to increase the production of fragments.
GARF is planning to use this information to help with rebuilding damaged reefs in the tropics.
We are sharing our information with people in several countries .
