This is Sally Jo's middle 55 gallon AragocreteTM and glue reef aquarium on 12/7/97. This is the lower middle part of the aquarium showing our Aiptasia eating Copperband. This is one of several Copperbands that we move around the lab to eat Aiptasia. When they have cleaned a reef aquarium we put a jar with an Aiptasia rock in it in the tank. The fish then swims into the jar and we move it. Many times the fish will eat the first Aiptasia it finds in the new aquarium. One of the fish we have had for 18 months will clean a rock while you hold it.

Aragocrete cave rock 12 weeks pld 11/24/97

ALL OF THESE ROCKS ARE HAND MADE. THE CUTTINGS ARE FROM SALLY JO'S REEF AQUARIUMS.

This reef has 1 Maxi-Jet 1000 powerhead and a heater. There two 4 foot VHO and two 20 watt 18 inch bulbs. There is no skimmer. The reef is 5 months old. Notice the coralline on the AragocreteTM cave rock. This tank was started with 2 four foot 40 watt lights. Sally Jo will add more lights and equipment until this is a sps coral reef. This new way of starting reefs with low light increases the coralline growth and limits the growth of hair algae.
