THESE TWO PICTURES SHOW THE NEWEST MEMBER OF OUR GROWING GENETIC BANK - Briarerium asbestinim - GREEN ENCRUSTING GORGONIAN

This exciting new soft coral comes to us from Portland, Ore. and it is very bright green. This family of corals forms a branch like mat of soft tissue with no central horny skeleton. The appearance is similar to the common star polyp. This strain is brighter and much larger than any green stars we have seen.

THIS PICTURE SHOWS HOW SALLY JO HAS ATTACHED THIS BRIAREUM TO THE GLASS IN HER REEF AQUARIUM WITH SUPER REEF GLUE.

The bright green Briarerium asbestinim prefers strong current and bright light. The current helps the coral shed the waxy film it occasianly forms to shed algae that grows on the surface of the finger-like branches. With the proper lighting this coral can grow very fast. It will grow onto and encrust rocks and the aquarim glass. We are very interested in trading rare Xenia or colored sps corals for any strains of this species you might have.

WE WILL POST PICTURES OF THIS FINE GREEN BRIAREUM AGAIN SOON SO YOU CAN SEE HOW IT IS GROWING .

The pink soft coral in this picture looks very goods next to the green encrusting gorgonian. Sally Jo decorates her reefs by matching the colors and textures of the corals in each section. We will soon be propagating this fine new soft coral so we will be able to make it available to our members. Many of the rare corals are offered to our members for 2 years before they are put on sale. We will soon have an E-mail list that will list the rarest color forms of sps corals and soft corals such as Xenia and Mushrooms.
