PICTURE OF THE WEEK
This new coral has the nicest purple color of any Montipora type coral we have recieved this semester. We will soon be fragging this coral so we can move it into some of the newer SPS reefs we are setting up. The Middle reef in Sally Jo's office will soon have 4 - four foot VHO bulbs and 2- four foot 40 watt bulbs. It will fun to watch this reef become a SPS coral brood stock reef. We will add an overflow and a sump so we can move the skimmer out of the reef. Many of these corals will be fragged as soon as the lights are installed.
REEF PICTURES SPONSORED BY REEF JANITORS SPS CORALS GROWING IN SALLY JO'S 55 GALLON REEF ARE GETTING MORE AND MORE COLOR EACH MONTH. AS WE ADD NEW STRAINS TO OUR COLLECTION WE ARE STARTING TO GET MORE BLUE AND PURPLE SPS CORALS.
SALLY JO HATES IT WHEN SHE HAS A LAND SLIDE IN THIS REEF, BUT I LOVE IT, BECAUSE I GET BOWLS OF FRAGS AS SHE RESTACKS HER BABIES :)
This tank has 4 Maxi-Jet 1000s in the tank and two more powerheads in the sump. One of the Maxi-Jets is on a timer that turns it on and off every 1/2 hour. As the reef grows it is VERY important that you increase the flow because the corals tend to stop the water from moving.
