SALLY JO'S PICTURES OF THE WEEKREEF PICTURES SPONSORED BY REEF JANITORS JERRY HESLINGA SENT US ONE OF THE BEST CLAMS ON THIS PLANET - MONTH ONE This clam has adjusted well in its home. Jerry sent me real empty clam shells to allow my new tank mate to make its home. I believe that will save it from those little tiny rice size snails that will cause harm if you are not careful. I have also warned LeRoy, no cuttings of Palythoa in my tanks. We have lost two clams before because of the toxins released. I love to take close-ups of my tanks. You will notice one of the hermits working his heart out. You will not see any signs of algae growing in my tanks. I gave up keeping a tang alive because of this. More importantly if you find the right balance of janitors you will never have to worry about algae again. I must say that these pictures do not do the clam justice. It simply takes my breath away.
This is honestly the most beautiful animal in my tank. I wanted to show you how the animal looks from above. The colors from looking down on the animal are incredible. I was gifted this clam from Jerry Heslinga almost a month ago. I had a little scare a couple of days ago this clear stuff came out of the bottom of my clam. I found this is a normal occurrence and sure enough this animal is as happy as a clam in its new home. I feel extremely lucky to have this animal. Jerry's shipping practices are by far the best we have seen of the many boxes delivered to GARF. It is my hope that many more of you will introduce this type of specimen into your home reef tanks. I can tell you from personal experience that the clam is the hit with all visitors at GARF.
