LIVE ROCK REEF RESEARCH PROJECT

12 WEEK OLD 55 GALLON INSTA REEF

Reef picture

THIS REEF AQUARIUM WAS STARTED BY 12 YEAR OLD RACHEL USING AN INSTA REEF PACKAGE.
MORE PICTURES OF THIS REEF AQUARIUM

Rachel is very proud that she is the only one who has done anything to this wonderful reef aquarium. She decorated the reef aquarium with many tank raised corals and mushrooms.

This reef aquarium was started using GARF GRUNGE TM and GARF BIOROX TM both of these products are completely seeded with all of the bacteria and Micro fauna that a reef aquarium will need to maintain any type of reef population.

EQUIPMENT LIST

LIGHTING - 3 Four foot 40 watt bulbs - 1 Blue Moon 2 Tritons
LIGHT HOOD - 1 Piece of tin foil - Rachel says that it is best if you crumple the foil and then flatten it, this gives the added benifit of having stars on your walls. The light shines thru the small holes. :)
FILTER - NONE
SKIMMER - Air powered $20.00 plastic in tank Lee's skimmer
HEATER - 150 Watt
POWER HEADS - 2 Visi Jet 1000
OTHER EQUIPMENT - NONE

SOME OF THE ANIMALS LIVING IN RACHEL'S REEF

This tank was set up by using 80 lbs. of GARF BIOROX TM and 20 lbs. of GARF GRUNGE TM.

This reef is cleaned very little because the REEF JANITORSTM keep the glass and roclk very clean and algae free. The coralline algae has started to cover the aragonite BIOROXTM and this reef will soon be full of very fine tank raised live rock. 3>

REEF AQUARIUM FARMING NEWS | REEF AQUARIUM CORAL FARMING SCHOOL | 1997 WINTER - SPRING NEWSLETTER

We are a Non Profit Organization dedicated to advancing the knowledge of reef keeping. Our live rock aquaculture research has produced many new techniques for sustaining marine life and propagating corals. We are currently growing many species of sps corals, mushrooms, etc. The Foundation is building a genetic bank in Idaho with collections from around the World. We specialize in reef janitors, and have shared this research with many people who need to control algae in landbased live rock aquaculture tanks.
